About Cathy

With a connection spanning over 40 years in Cairns, I have served the community in many diverse roles, including my current role as Division 3 Councillor since March 2015. Beyond local government, my background spans veterinary nursing, local business owner, working in schools and early youth intervention projects. Passionate about community development I sit on the boards of many local Not For Profit charities as well my own child sponsorship charity for Kenyan children; Boldlyigo Inc. I believe that being a Divisional Councillor involves more than just creating & maintaining Council Infrastructure. It's about building relationships and fostering a vibrant and connected community.

BIG Boldlyigo Inc.

One of my passions is directing and managing BIG Boldlyigo Inc, which is an Australian ACNC Registered Charity with DGR Tax Status based here in Cairns that assists children living in poverty in outer country areas of Kenya.

BIG is partnering with our Kenyan friends to give a hand up so that the children and their carers can have an opportunity to experience life without poverty.

View fullsize Today I headed north to check out the new stage 1 of the Wangetti Trail Palm Cove - Port Douglas. 7.8km of trails from Palm Cove to Ellis Beach. The trail takes you up & down the Macalister Range. A great hike, but people on bikes were challenged
